It is with the deepest sorrow that I share with you the news that our student Annika Zinsley and her mother Rachel Shahinian died in a traffic collision on recently. Many of you knew Annika, who danced as a Russian, and Rachel who performed for the last two years as Mother Ginger in the Nutcracker. They are two shining lights who are missed beyond what words can express.
The family is requesting that charitable donations be made in lieu of flowers. An Alameda Civic Ballet Memorial Fund has been established in their memory. If you wish to donate to the memorial fund, please send a check made payable to Alameda Civic Ballet, 1402 Park Street, Alameda, CA, 94501 (memo: Rachel and Annika Memorial Fund). You may also donate online by clicking on the PayPal Donate button on the top right. When it takes you to the PayPal page to make your gift, type "Memorial Fund" in the description box.
